“One of the great functions of art is to help us imagine what it is like to be not ourselves, what it is like to be someone or something else, what it is like to live in another skin, what it is like to live in another body, and in that sense to surpass ourselves, to go out beyond ourselves.”

Artist Statement

Anna is a director and performer with credits from New York City and West Texas.

Her work explores unconventional staging, technology and multimedia integrations, audience accessibility, and public programming that empowers audiences to engage further with theatrical themes. Anna strives to bring new perspectives to her audiences through thorough research, intentional interpretations, and insanely talented collaborators. She works to shape the theatrical productions of tomorrow.

Anna empowers her collaborators on and off stage with the freedom to create within the limits of budget, space, and time. Anna strives to create safe spaces where team members & actors can feel free and supported to take unconventional artistic risks in an effort to bring the work closer to audiences.

While Anna relishes the opportunity to bring a familiar story to our audiences, she finds immense artistic fulfillment delving into new and developing works. She cherishes the experience to work closely with playwrights and treats opportunity extreme intention and care. Anna seeks works that feature underrepresented themes and content — especially commentary on gender roles, underrepresented coming of age stories, and modern social experiences. Anna has helmed the free program Page to Stage in West Texas. It holds over 100 members that are educators, theater professionals, and community members. We have workshopped two new works within the mission of Page to Stage - LAREDO by Max Duane in 2022, and TRACKS by John Patrick Bray in 2023.

tl;dr Anna’s passion lies in developing new work, working closely with playwrights, and creating accessible live theater for modern audiences.
